About Bright Futures NYS
Bright Futures NYS is a statewide literacy and youth empowerment campaign created by children’s author Ta-Sean C. Murdock to inspire young people through storytelling, literacy, and positive encouragement. Through engaging author visits, interactive readings, and empowering conversations, Bright Futures NYS helps students build confidence, believe in themselves, and recognize that they can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Centered around the books "I Can and I Will" and "I Am Brave and Bright", the campaign creates meaningful experiences for students that promote self-belief, perseverance, courage, and personal growth. Our mission is to uplift children across New York by using the power of books and storytelling to create brighter futures for the next generation.
Bright Futures NYS partners with schools, afterschool programs, youth organizations, and community groups to provide impactful literacy-centered experiences that leave students feeling inspired, encouraged, and empowered.
Bright Futures NYS Services
Author School Visits
Interactive visits with children’s author Ta-Sean C. Murdock featuring read-aloud sessions, student engagement, and motivational discussions centered around confidence, literacy, and perseverance.
Literacy Engagement Programs
Programs designed to make reading exciting and meaningful while encouraging imagination, creativity, and self-expression among students.
Student Empowerment Workshops
Age-appropriate conversations and activities focused on self-confidence, positive mindset, leadership, resilience, and goal setting.
Read-Aloud Experiences
Engaging storytelling sessions featuring I Can and I Will and I Am Brave and Bright that encourage students to believe in themselves and their future.
Family & Community Literacy Events
Special literacy nights and community-based events that encourage family engagement, reading, and positive youth development.
School & Youth Organization Partnerships
Collaborative opportunities with schools, nonprofits, afterschool programs, and community organizations throughout New York State.
Book Sales & Bulk Orders
Books are available for individual purchase, classroom sets, school-wide initiatives, literacy events, and student giveaways.

The Mission
The Mission of Bright Futures NYS is to use storytelling and literacy to uplift young people across New York, helping them understand that despite any challenges they may face, they have the power to achieve anything they put their minds to.
Community Impact
A portion of all book proceeds supports One Team One Dream of the Capital District, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth development programs and opportunities throughout the Capital District.
